Swift Verruca Treatment in Macclesfield

Stubborn verrucas can be painful, frustrating and difficult to clear with home treatments alone. At The Footcare Clinic in Macclesfield, we offer Swift microwave verruca therapy, a modern treatment designed to target infected tissue and stimulate your body’s own immune response to the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Swift treatment is carried out by our qualified podiatrists and does not involve cutting, freezing or the use of acids.

How Does Swift Verruca Treatment Work?

Swift uses targeted microwave energy delivered through a small handheld probe directly to the verruca.

The energy briefly heats the infected tissue, helping to trigger a local immune response so your body can recognise and fight the HPV infection responsible for the verruca.

Rather than simply treating the surface of the skin, Swift is designed to encourage the body to deal with the underlying viral infection.

If verrucae are affecting the way you walk or stand, biomechanics and gait analysis can help assess any additional strain they're placing on your feet. With qualified podiatrists carrying out your care, you get a treatment plan that makes sense for the type and position of the verruca. The Footcare Clinic has been helping people in Macclesfield since 1988, and this treatment gives you a modern option when you want to move things along properly.

What you can expect from treatment

Your appointment begins with an assessment by one of our podiatrists to confirm that Swift is suitable for you.

The treatment process usually involves:

  • Preparing the verruca – any hard or thickened skin covering the lesion is carefully reduced.

  • Applying the Swift probe – a small handheld probe is positioned directly over the verruca.

  • Delivering microwave energy – short micro-bursts of energy are applied to the affected tissue.

  • Aftercare advice – your podiatrist will explain what to expect and when your next appointment should be.

The treatment itself is quick, and because Swift does not involve cutting or freezing, there is usually little interruption to normal daily activity.

Why home treatments often fall short

Home treatments can seem handy, but they often rely on repeated applications and plenty of patience. Verrucae sit within the skin, which is why surface-level products don't always get to the tissue causing the problem. Our Swift treatment uses microwave energy in a controlled way, giving us a different route to managing stubborn cases.

We can also treat warts and verrucae on hands as well as feet, which makes this useful for more than one type of skin concern. If you're unsure whether your symptoms are caused by a verruca or something else, general podiatry is a good place to start. If you've been stuck in a cycle of patches, creams, and crossed fingers, this is a more direct conversation to have.

How does it work?

Swift microwave therapy is at the forefront of non-tissue-damaging treatments for warts, verrucas and beyond. Swift works in harmony with the body’s immune system to clear infection naturally.
